Ford Gets Into Spirit Of America With Super Duty Patriotic Package
Ford is getting into a patriotic mood by introducing a special appearance package for its Super Duty pickup lineup. Developed as the U.S. draws near its 250th birthday, the kit turns the heavy-duty truck into what the automaker calls a rolling tribute to our nation. This is the trim designed to highlight American pride while providing buyers with a one-of-a-kind look that separates them from the regular Super Duty models.
A Visual Tribute to America
The package is called Proud to Honor Package, and it’s available through Ford Custom Garage, the automaker’s official upfit program.Instead of offering performance enhancements or mechanical upgrades, the pack is all appearance focused. According to Ford, the package embodies American tough and is designed to turn heads regardless of whether the truck resides at a job site or cruising down the highway.
Most prominently featured is an enormous red, white, and blue American flag graphic on side of the truck. The graphic gives the pickup a strong identity and immediately ties it into the patriotic theme that inspired the package.
Exclusive Styling Details
Along with the flag graphic, the package features a few styling tweaks that give it its own identity. The Proud to Honor Package adds dark trim pieces around the exterior of trucks, fitting with a more aggressive and modern look.
Black wheels that nicely match the truck’s patriotic graphics and dark accents are also included in particular configurations. The dual-rear-wheel versions have nineteen-and-a-half-inch forged aluminum wheels. The contrasting black elements, combined with bold flag imagery, form a stark visual that helps separate the truck from other Super Duty family models.Ford has marketed the package as a dealer-supported opportunity for customers to show off their patriotism behind the wheel of one of its most serious heavy-duty pickups.
Limited Availability and Paint Requirement
Super Duty configurations pose a theoretical limit on the Proud to Honor Package. Ford has confirmed it will be a low-volume offering, but the manufacturer hasn’t specified an exact figure for units. One is exterior color. The package is limited to black-painted trucks, too.The lacquer black exterior puts the red, white and blue graphics into sharp contrast — and makes for a more dramatic visual on a patriotic theme.Being an appearance package, the accessory doesn’t change any capabilities or specs of the truck. Rather, this is intended for buyers who want a unique appearance without altering the core attributes of the Super Duty.
Models, Trims That Qualify
Ford has made the package available on nearly its entire heavy-duty pickup range. It is available as an option for the new model year on F-Two Hundred Fifty, F-Three Hundred Fifty and F-Four Hundred Fifty models.
The Ford Super Duty is available in a variety of trim levels, including XL, XLT, King Ranch and Platinum versions. It’s this breadth of fitment that helps get the patriotic style package into both work-duty and higher-end buyers. But Ford has put some availability restrictions in place. The Platinum Plus trim does not offer the package as an option. Ford, by excluding that version, is taking a more understated approach with the special edition while still keeping it as available on several major trims.
Compatibility With Existing Appearance Options
Next on the list of confirmed speculations is that Ford will offer it with option packages already available in Super Duty trim.Customers who want a more truck-like rugged grade can order up the Proud to Honor Package with trucks nipping at their heels thanks to the Tremor Off-Road Package.
Also eligible are the XLT and Lariat models equipped with the Black Appearance Package. The combos give buyers the ability to mix and match the stars and stripes graphics with other styling themes that already exist in the Super Duty lineup. This opens up limited factory customization options that customers can add to the truck while still giving them a chance to keep said package’s patriotic identity intact.
Ordering Timeline and Warranty Coverage
Ford is currently taking orders for the F-Two Hundred Fifty with the Proud to Honor Package.Customers wanting the bigger of the F-Three Hundred Fifty and F-Four Hundred Fifty will have to wait a bit longer, with order books for those models set to open later this year.
The automaker has urged potential buyers to reach out to local dealerships for further information and updates about release dates. Pricing information has yet to be revealed, as Ford says those numbers will come at a later time. While the package is mostly cosmetic, Ford also has your back with a supplemental warranty. Coverage is three years or thirty-six thousand miles for buyers. This extra layer of protection also strengthens package’s identity as a factory-backed release, not an aftermarket tweak.
The Proud to Honor Package is Ford’s most recent attempt at combining nationalism with one of its more recognizable heavy-duty truck lines, featuring flag graphics, black styling elements and select availability.
